So many questions, so few answers
“Eastern Montana Aid Package Will Require Legislative Approval.” Really? I thought that was all taken care of during the last legislative session. It was at that time the legislature, whom “we the people” elected. They are to represent the people in their district. These officials passed HB218 by a combined vote of 141-8. Quite impressive, I would say.
Now our governor comes to us with a great plan to set up a $45 million grant program which would be funded by the sale of state bonds. As I understand, this would have an interest rate of 1.25 percent and taxpayers will need to pay this back. When HB218 was passed in the last session that money was already ours and infrastructure repairs could already be started.
I also wonder about the quoted savings of $20-$30 on water and sewer bills for the rest of the lives of the users.
