Jerry Lavern Trangmoe


Jerry Lavern Trangmoe, age 71, of Glendive passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. A Family and Friends Service was held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014 in the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor Avis Anderson officiating. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Jerry was born on February 22, 1943 in Glendive, the son of Andrew and Lydia (Haux) Trangmoe.  He was raised and educated in Glendive graduating with the class of 1961. While attending high school, Jerry was on the Red Devil Football team. Jerry helped out on the farm for several years and K & M Electric for a couple years before working for Shell Oil as a pumper, roustabout and maintenance foreman until his retirement in 1999. While he worked for Shell Oil he was taken to Texas where he remained for one year before returning to Glendive.

Jerry married Rita Buxbaum in 1964 and to this union two sons were born. This marriage  ended and Jerry remained in Glendive where he later met Vickie Ingraham. They were married in 1985 and to this union two children were born.

Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, Angus Cows, collecting guns and knives, Corvette’s, horses and had a special love for his granddog Ruger whom accompanied him to coffee . He loved spending time with his family, having family get together’s and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Survivors include his loving wife, Vickie Trangmoe of Glendive; sons, Jeff Trangmoe, Blake Trangmoe (Tami) and Jady Trangmoe all of Glendive; daughter, Jenna (Mike) Knapp of Alliance, NE; five grandchildren, Jessica, Ali, Kailee, Maddix and Khloe; siblings, Harry (LaVerne) Trangmoe of Glendive, Marlene (Ralph) Williamson of Helena; Joanne (Gene) Weinreis of Golva, N.D., Helen (Del) Carroll of Townsend; Jim (Robin) Trangmoe of Glendive and Tony (Jane) Trangmoe of Dayton, Wyo. and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Wild Sheep Foundation, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive.
