John R. "Bob" Devier

 John R. “Bob” Devier, age 87, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive due to complications from a stroke. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor Avis Anderson officiating. Interment with military honors will be held in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Bob was born on January 13, 1927, in Glendive, a son of  George and Esther (Syversen) Devier.  He was raised and educated in Glendive where he attended Dawson County High School graduating with the class of 1945. Bob enlisted in the United States Army in 1945 and was honorably discharged from military service in 1947. He was very proud of having served in the Army.

Bob was very involved in politics. He was proud to have been a Montana State Representative, a Dawson County Commissioner, Realtor and served on several boards in his life time. Bob was a farmer and rancher throughout most of his life; something he enjoyed. For the past ten years he has resided in Glendive enjoying every moment of it.

He was preceded in death by his parents; George and Esther; sisters, Marjorie Smith and Gertrude  Huotari; and brother-in-laws, Stub Malkuch and Harry Huotari.

He is survived by his sister, Shirley Malkuch of Glendive; brother - in - law, Roy Smith of Glendive and several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and nephews.
