Randolph "Randy" George Urbanec

Randolph “Randy” George Urbanec, age 75, of Glendive, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at his home in Glendive. 

Visitation was held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with Father Francis Schreiber officiating. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Randy was born on September 17, 1942 in Dickinson, N.D. to George and Anne (Steffan) Urbanec. He was raised and educated in Glendive and graduated from Dawson County High School  with the class of 1960. After high school, he served in the Army and National Guard from 1964 until 1972, and attended the University of Montana and finished his education with an MBA in 1967. He worked for Honeywell in Minneapolis and Burroughs Corp. in Denver before purchasing Urbanec Motors in Glendive from his father, which he owned and operated until 2002. During this time, he also owned and operated Napa in Glendive. On November 28, 1970, Randy married Katherine Harstad. To this union one son was born. This marriage ended in divorce in 1985.

Randy enjoyed golfing, boating and spending time at his cabin at Fort Peck. He also enjoyed anything that had to do with his businesses. His real passion, however, were his son and his 3 grandchildren, whom he loved and spent as much time with as possible.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, George; and his sister, Sherry Anne Urbanec.

Randy is survived by his mother, Anne Urbanec of Tuscon; his son, Ryan (Kristen) Urbanec of Casper, Wyo.; his grandchildren, Danica Katherine, Alexander Ryan and Charles John, all of Casper; his sister, Kim (Jim) McFarren of Tucson; and his nieces and nephews, April, Jordan, George, Carly and Alexandra.
