Sigrid Kristine Goulet

Sigrid Kristine Goulet, 61, of Glendive, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, North Dakota. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with Father Jolly Pathiyamoola officiating. Rite of Committal will be held in the Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Sigrid was born in Langdon, N.D, on May 10, 1953, a daughter of Louis and Eileen (Verville) Byron.  She lived north of Mountain, North Dakota on a farm for five years until her family moved to Cavalier, North Dakota where she was raised and educated. Sigrid received her high school diploma from Cavalier High School in Cavalier graduating with the class of 1971. Following high school, she worked at her Uncle Raymond’s Grocery Store and spent most of her time raising her four children. In 1980 Sigrid moved to Bismarck, North Dakota where she attended Bismarck State College and received her associates degree in Computer Science. Sigrid continued to live in Bismarck where she was employed with Cloverdale Meats and North American Van Lines until she moved to Glendive in 1983. In 1981 Sigrid started dating a close family friend Leland Goulet and after being each other’s best friend and companion for nineteen years, they were united in marriage on August 12, 2000 in Sturgis, S.D. while at the motorcycle rally. She worked for  Byron Construction during the construction season and Glendive Medical Center in the winter months. In 1993 she and Leland started L & S Trucking an operation that is still running. In 2004 she also started working for Northern Improvement, Dickinson Division, something she enjoyed doing until her passing and where she earned the nickname “Auntie”.  Sigrid has an immaculate driving record and could out work and drive most men.

She was  a member of Doe Lodge #1929 in Parker, Arizona, ABATE of North Dakota and Montana, VFW Post #1125 of Glendive, proud member of Teamsters Union Local #638 of Bismarck, North Dakota and the Glendive Moose Chapter #784. Sigrid loved riding her Harley Davidson something she bought for herself. She enjoyed their yearly trips to Sturgis for the bike rally, driving truck, spending time with Leland, her family, especially her grandchildren as well as her extended family of Northern Improvement. Sigrid also made quilts and took motorcycle trips to Parker during the winter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Leland Goulet of Glendive; four children, Jamie (James) Johnson (Jen) of Glendive, Buddy (John) Johnson of Glendive, Rick (Tammy) Johnson of Cushing, Minnesota and Stephanie Crandall of West Fargo, North Dakota; sixteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren with one on the way in December; three brothers; Donald (Judy) Byron of Peoria, Arizona , Dennis (Cindi) Byron of Glendive and Douglas (Carol) Byron of Glendive; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
