Taylor Schwartz and the boys’ 4x100 meter relay team highlighted some outstanding performances by the DCHS athletes. Schwartz won the boys’ pole vault and the relay team also brought home the top award.
In the Class A boys’ pole vault there were six competitors that had cleared 13-06, including Schwartz and fellow Red Devil Dillon Silvernale. At 14-00 Schwartz and Ethan Blume from Anaconda were the only two jumpers to make the height, leaving them to battle it out for first place.
Schwartz went on to clear 14-04, setting a new school record at DCHS in the process. Blume was second at 14-00. Silvernale came away with the fourth place medal with his vault of 13-06.
The 4x100 relay team for the Red Devils was made up of John LeSueur, Taylor Schwartz, Tai Sokoloski and Colter Bachmeier. These four young men had the top qualifying time in the preliminaries with a 43.47, making them the team to beat in Saturday’s final.
The Glendive relay team then scorched the track in the finals with a clocking of 43.31, nearly six-tenths of a second ahead of their nearest competitors. The second place team from Whitefish finished at 43.89. The Red Devils winning time of 43.31 was the second fastest recorded in school history.

DCHS head coach Mike Dryden noted about the performances by the Red Devils and Lady Red Devils, “The kids competed very well, they were very determined. None were more determined than Taylor and the 400 relay. The kids represented Glendive very well. I’m proud of their achievements.” Dryden also mentioned, “The boys’ 4x400 relay cut four seconds off of their best time and finished 8th.”
