DCHS tracksters place high in Dickinson meet

The Red Devils had four vaulters place in the pole vault at the Dickinson Coca-Cola track and field meet on Tuesday, leading the DCHS team to a third place finish. Taylor Schwartz and Dillon Silvernale went 1-2 in the polevault after clearing 14 feet. Two other Red Devils, Kacen French and Beau Ackerman, also placed in the event. French was fourth at 12-06 and Ackerman was sixth at 10-06. The Devils team total of 100 points was third behind Minot (170) and Dickinson (126).

The Red Devil boys had 18 placers in the individual events while the Lady Red Devils had six individual placers. The Glendive girls accumulated 37 team points.

Austyn Copp had the best finish for the Red Devil girls.  Copp’s time of 5:42.67 in the 1600 placed her in second. Copp also was 7th in the 800 with a time of 2:42.88.  

Carly Svenvold and Lindsay Ceynar were also double placers for DCHS. Svenvold leaped 33-04 in the triple jump which placed her in third. She also ran the 100 hurdles in 17.25 and earned a 5th place award in that event.  Ceynar earned a pair of sixth place finishes. She threw the discus 91-01 and heaved the shot put 28-03.

The Red Devils also faired well in two other jumping events. Schwartz, Silvernale and Ackerman went 3-5-7 in the triple jump with leaps of 40-09.5, 39-08.5 and 38-01 respectively. Taylor Schwartz (20-02.25) and Tanner Schwartz (20-02) were 5th and 6th in the long jump.

The Red Devil boys also had a solid day on the track.  The DCHS team picked up points in the 100, 200, 1600 and the 3200.

Ashton Jones was a winner in the 1600 with his time of 4:53.30. Jones also had a second place finish in the 3200 after crossing the line in 10:54.44.

Colter Bachmeier placed in both of the sprints. Bachmeier was clocked in 11.40 in the 100, good for a third place finish. In the 200 he was fifth with a time of 23.89.

Dakota Pew and Josef Hageman also placed on the track for the Devils. Pew was sixth in 200 meters at 23.89.  Hageman ran the 3200 in 11:42.37 for a fifth place finish.

In the throwing events the Red Devil boys had just two placers. Chase Knoll was seventh and Beau Ackerman eighth in the javelin with throws of 129-08 and 129-03 respectively.

The Red Devil boys’ 800 meter relay team that consisted of Bachmeier, French, Carson Oakland and Tristan Hilgart placed third with their time of 1:39.74.

The Lady Red Devil relay team of Kendra Zander, Natalie Temple, Cheyenne Fisher and Teia Knutson placed sixth in the 800 meter relay.

Girls’ team scores: Mandan 159.5, Minot 121, Dickinson 115.5, Sidney 86, Williston 61, Dickinson Trinity 61, Miles City 55, DCHS 37

Boys’ team scores: Minot 170, Dickinson 126, DCHS 100, Dickinson Trinity 85, Mandan 78.33, Sidney 75.67, Miles City 50, Bismarck Century 16, Williston 9
