Lady Bucs fall in regional tourney

The Lady Buccaneers’ softball season came to an end at their regional tournament in Beatrice, Neb. The Dawson Community College team lost its opener to Central Community College – Columbus on May 2. The Lady Bucs bounced back to defeat Southeast Community College on the third but then lost later in the day to CCC-C. This loss to Columbus ended the Bucs 2014 season.
The Bucs were tied the score at 1-1 in the opener with a run in the fifth inning. However, a big four-run 6th by Central proved to be the difference in the game. CCC-C defeated Dawson 5-1.
DCC recovered from the loss and bounced back to defeat Southeast Community College the following day. The Buccaneers scored once in the top of the first and then again in the second. DCC added one more run in the 4th to go up 3-0. Southeast responded with a pair of runs in its half of the fourth inning to get within one at 3-2. DCC came up with an insurance run in the 6th then held on for a 4-2 victory.
The Lady Buccaneers then met up again with Central. The Bucs kept the came close through the first three innings, trailing just 2-0 at this point. The fourth and fifth innings did in the Lady Buccaneers. Central pushed across three more runs in the fourth inning. DCC was able to respond with a pair in its half of the fifth but then Central ended the game in the bottom of the fifth with a five-run inning. The Lady Bucs season came to a close with a 10-2 loss to Central.
