The Lady Red Devils were looking for their second conference win of the season on Tuesday when they hosted Sidney but they came up a couple of runs short. The Eagles took the Eastern A contest by the final tally of 5-3.

Sidney built an early four-run lead with a run in each of the first and second innings then two more in the top of the third. Glendive scored for the first time with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Lexi Pettersen singled in the inning, stole second base and then third before scoring on a passed ball. The score remained 4-1 until the top of the 6th.

In the sixth, the Eagles pushed their lead back to four but the Devils answered with two in their half of the 6th.  Cheyenne Ryan started the DCHS rally with a single.  Amanda Mittlestadt and Pettersen followed with back-to-back doubles to plate the two runs for the Glendive ladies.  Entering the final inning the Red Devils had climbed back within two at 5-3.

The defense held the Sidney squad scoreless in the top of the seventh thanks in part to two nice plays in right field by Sam Burman.  The home team was unable to come up with anything in their last at bat.

The two teams were limited to just five hits each in the contest. The Lady Red Devils committed just one error in the field while the Eagles had two defensive errors.

Next up for the DCHS softball team is a match up with the Cowgirls in Miles City.  The varsity game is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Bender Park.
