Dawson County High School’s spikers headed west Saturday for a two-match trip.
They took on Laurel in the morning and Billings Central in the afternoon.
The Lady Devils took on Laurel in the first game and took it to five games. Laurel got the win. The scores were 25-21, 13-25, 25-27, 25-23 and 15-11.
“We played great,” stated Eva Crockett, head coach. “We just couldn’t get our passing down.”
On the plus side, she said her team was moving well and serving well.
“We were attacking the ball while receiving serve but were having a hard time because we weren’t communicating.”
Billings Central shot down the Lady Devils in three straight games: 25-14, 25-21 and 25-14.
“We played Billings Central after the very long five games against Laurel, so we started out slower,” stated Crocket. “But we did pick it up and started to compete. It was too late in the game to get a win.”
The Lady Devils now have a conference record of 1-2 with an overall record of 4-5.
The Lady Devils have all week to prepare for their rematch with Miles City on Saturday, Oct. 18. That is also Pack the Place in Pink day with the Lady Devils.
The matches start at 4 with the freshmen, 5:30 with the junior varsity and the varsity takes the court at 7.
Prior to that, spectators will be treated to a performance by LaDonna’s School of Dance.
