The Lady Red Devils’ softball team wrapped up its regular season this past week by win four out its final six games. Last Thursday the DCHS squad was in Hardin where they finished a suspended game with Billings Central and also played the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Devils then played four games in Butte at the Laverne Invitational tournament.
Glendive and Billings Central had to finish a suspended game from the weekend before in Sidney. The Red Devil girls were leading the conference-leading Rams when rain forced the suspension of the contest. The two teams completed the contest on Thursday in Hardin. The Lady Rams came from behind to claim a 9-8 decision over the Lady Devils. Cheyenne Ryan and Wyniah Mintz both homered for Glendive.
The conference regular season for Glendive came to a close with the contest against Hardin. The Lady Red Devils improved to 3-7 in conference play with a 5-1 victory over the Bulldogs. Wyniah Mintz pitched a one-hitter for the Devils to earn the win. Haylee Storlie went 2-4 at the plate, including a double. Mintz, Lexi Pettersen, Amanda Mittlestadt and Sarah Temple all drove in one run for the Lady Devils.
At the Laverne tournament in Butte the Lady Red Devils won three of four contests. The DCHS team had wins over Stillwater, Corvallis and Whitefish. Their lone loss came at the hands of Polson. Polson was the Class A state runner-up from a year go.
Temple had a good game pitching against Stillwater, allowing just two earned runs. Storlie had a big offensive game for the Lady Devils, including a grand slam, in a 14-6 win over Whitefish. A 12-run 3rd inning was all the Devils need in a 12-6 triumph against Corvallis. Baylee Hushka, Mintz and Pettersen led the offensive attack for Glendive in this win over the Blue Devils. The DCHS girls were no match for the Lady Pirates from Polson. Glendive fell in this contest 19-1. Mintz did homer for the lone Red Devil run.
The Lady Red Devils will now head for the Eastern A tournament in Laurel this Thursday and Friday. The Lady Devils will meet up with Sidney at 10 a.m. Thursday morning. The Lady Eagles are the No. 4. The winner of this ballgame will advance to meet Billings Central, the #1 seed.
